This blog will be in english (I'll do that from time to time anyone who's not bilingual in todays day and age in this region is either from gatineau-no or has smart as the role Seann W. Scott played in the above movie)

For the people who know me well, you'll know that I like hockey the real way it's supposed to be played.  This post will be in regards to the movie GOON.

Now having said this, obviously i'm posting about the movie because I saw the FU*&^% thing and of course in Freaking loved it.  It's a story about a guy who can't find his spot in life and ends up getting an opportunity of a life time that will eventually change his life and help others along the way.  All that in a hockey related story, of course!

I'm not going to tell you the movie, but I will say this.  Today's hockey stinks and for many reasons...here's a few...

Players don't respect themselves on the ice.
The idiotic instigator rule that ruins the game.
Delay of game penalty for un-intentionnally throwing a puck in the crowd...WTF! (no one here can make me swallow that players would keep throwing the puck in the crowd knowing they would get a penalty...right?!?!)
No red line.
Players playing with armours instead of equipment...by that I mean equipment should protect the one guy wearing it and not kill the other guy playing against it!!!
The goalie lines behind the net....great idea...let's take skills out of the game...congrats morons!
Shoot-outs...Euro-style-crappy-individual-un-called-for-breakaway-killing hockey!!

Back to the movie now....this movie will bring you back to the days where hockey players cared about one another, where a team was a bunch of friends helping each other along the way - called the season.

I learned a long time ago when I was a hockey player playing in the minor leagues that hockey is....UNE ECOLE DE VIE....which means in english hockey is a school of life, meaning there's a lot you can learn from this game that you can use in real life.

GOON the movie is not just a bare knuckle slugg fest (there's lots of it though...hooray to that) but it's also a lesson on how things should be on the ice and off the ice in a certain hockey canadian way of life.  We we'rent all raised with a silver spoon in our mouths or blessed with god like abilities to succeed in this ridiculous day an age where technology is used against people instead of being used for people.

GOON the movie will bring you back to the days where things we're simple, days where you would take a cab from point A to point B without making a freaking detour to point Y then paying a lawyer to be able to talk to point X and then sign papers to move on to point H and finally showing the proper documentation to finally arrive at point FU...Hehe ;-)....

It's a love it or stick it type of movie, if your the nancie type of hockey fan and moo-moo type of individual who respects politics and todays hockey then this movie is for your father (father knows best) but if you understand hockey the WAY IT SHOULD REALLY BE PLAYED and the end result from this hockey mentality that still would make sense today and put butts in the seats...then go watch GOON.  A classic view of what hockey was and still should be today to a certain degree....

I personnaly loved it, it was refreshing to know that people still UNDERSTAND how hockey players think and what most REAL fans want out of the game...!!!

It's not for mommy and sonny that's for sure...but then again who want there opinions on hockey anyways, we would be better of asking the media for the truth...!!!

I give it two fists up...that's all you need to know!!!

  1. I would like to comment upon your views about what is ruining the game.

I agree completely about the lack of respect the players are showing for each other. It is a disgrace. In the old days there was respect, but now it is gone.

Personally I do not think the instigator rule has any effect, it does not stop anyone from starting fights. It has had little or no effect on the game.

I agree that the delay of game penalty should be a judgement call, as it used to be.

When you say no red line, what do you mean? They have already removed the two zone offside, which was an excellent change. Now the red line is only there for icing, so what do you mean by no red line?

I agree completely about the players wearing armour instead of protective equipment, this is one of the reasons for the increase in boarding, and the equipment should go back to the way it was.

I do not really have a strong opinion about goaltender lines. Though I think they should be fair game when they come out of their crease, and they used to be, but they are not any longer. In other words, it should be legal to body check a goaltender if he has the puck out of his crease, and it should not cause fights if it happens.

Of course shootouts are idiotic, so is a five minute, four on four overtime. There is nothing wrong with a tie in a hockey game.

To add to what is ruining hockey, THE LOUD MUSIC. All it does is keep the fans out of the game, reduce the home ice advantage, and take away from the ambiance of hockey games. It is an unbelievably stupid idea.

  2. By no red line I mean I wasn't and still not for the fact that they removed it now allowing the line passes...I think that's one of the reason why you have so many players getting concussions for hits to the head. Players are skating in between the 2 blue line carelessly since the the 2 line passes are now allowed.

I will be posting soon on lound music and the DJ at the Guert with his very questionnable choice of music as well...i'm still irrate at him for playing the stupid star academie music last year in the playoffs...that's has sissy has one can be!

David branch trying to ban fighting for next season will definetly have an article all to himself very soon has well! Unbelievable!!!
