Bon nous voila un pas plus prêt du visage finale de notre équipe. Même si j'ai manquer quelques matchs depuis le début de la saison, je me tiens au courant du train-train quotidien de la formation.
Avec quelques journées de congé et finalement un match le dimanche, j'ai pu mettre les pieds à Guertin pour un back-to-back ce week-end.
Entre temps, l'organisation a mis le grappin sur Frank Schumacher, un défenseur de 20 ans, qui viendra remplir la 3e position vacante, que Brouillard a laissé lorsqu'il a décidé d'aller "avoir du fun" dans le JAAA!!!
D'après ce que l'on dit de Schumacher via les médias sociaux, on parle ici d'un défenseur qui frappe et bouge bien la rondelle, on dit aussi qu'il a un lancé digne de la NHL. Jusqu'à date, j'aime bien ce que j'entends.
Maintenant, on dit aussi qu'il a des lacunes en défensive, ceci devient un peu inquiétant, car on parle de l'aligner avec Carrier pour combler ses lacunes défensives!!! Euuuummmm, pensons-nous vraiment que Carrier à 17 ans sera le vétéran des deux joueurs!?!?! J'aime bien Carrier, mais je suis pas certain qu'il est prêt pour ce genre de role. En jouant avec Beauregard, ses responsabilités sont pas les mêmes, s'il est pairer avec Schumacher je ne suis pas certain qu'il sera le même joueur, j'ai comme l'impression que certaines de ses (Carrier) lacunes seront exposer.
Pour revenir à Schumacher, je suis inquiet au fait qu'il a jouer pour 8 clubs dans le derniers 4 ans. Au jour ou l'on parle, il n'a que 36 matchs d'expérience dans la LHJMQ et aucun de ses matchs en série. Quand je parle d'un joueur de 20 ans, personnellement, je parle d'un joueur qui a fait tout et vu tout dans cette ligue...ceci n'est pas le cas de Schumacher et naturellement nous avons beaucoup trop payer pour ses services. Il était le 4 joueurs de 20 ans à Shawi, voila un club qui a gagné un grand total de 5 matchs depuis le début de la saison, ce même club avait de la difficulté à l'insérer dans son alignement...!!!
Comment ce fait-il que nous avons de la place sur le power-play pour ce même joueur étant donner du fait que nous sommes 4e dans la ligue?!?! Acquin et un choix de 5e ronde pour un joueur qui arrive avec une étiquette de "shot in the dark" if you ask me....c'est trop cher. Acquin sera un top-6 player dans cette ligue, de plus il semblait aimer le "rough stuff"....I don't like it. C'est le genre d'échange qui exposer vraiment les faiblesses de notre power-play et de la qualité des tirs de nos défenseurs. S'il faut mettre la main sur un joueur de 20 ans simplement pour son tir au but....ça va nous prendre 310 joueurs pour avoir tout les attribus pour gagner un championnat!!!
Plusieurs gens ne voulais pas payer le prix pour Culkin à Québec. J'aurais fait le "move" pour la simple raison que Culkin a le bagage d'expérience que je recherche dans un joueur de 20 ans. Certes, comme tout joueur il n'est pas parfait, mais il aurait amener une certitude d'expérience que Schumacher ne peut amener et il aurait amener une présence défensive sérieuse, Schumacher a des lacunes défensives. Culkin semble être une valeur certaine, il connait la ligue et ses séries, Schumacher c'est un risque...sera t'il payant!?!!? Je garde mes doutes!!!
Avec 3 choix de premières ronde en banque, je serais très surpris de ne pas voir Groulx bouger pour d'autre talents à l'avant. Plusieurs gens parle de Hudon et Sylvestre....personnellement après notre "trade down" catastrophique Chicoutimi nous en doit une big time....voyons-voir si nous allons mettre la main sur c'est deux joueurs la d'ici la fin de la période des transactions. Disons que les deux nous aiderais grandement, mais Tardif-Richard devra prendre la route de Chicoutimi car Sylvestre compte comme joueur de 20 ans. Je m'en plaindrais pas et Sylvestre mesure 6 pieds, Hudon entre dans la catégorie de petit joueur...mais il amènerais une dimension que nous avons pas à l'avant, un beau mélange de talent et d'intelligence.
Petit résumé du week-end...
Le match contre l'Armada ne passera pas à l'histoire assurément, L'Armada était privé de son premier trio au complet et nous nous avions pas les services de Tardif-Richard et Reway. Match assez défensif, nous avons vu les Piques dominer la 1ere et la 3e période, pendant que l'Armada avait repris de l'ardeur en 2e période. Résultat final, 5-3 pour nos Piques qui on su capitaliser sur quelques revirement couteux de BB dans leur territoire, tout en gagnant la majeure partie des guerres le long des bandes. Marcoux n'était pas a son meilleur sur le but de Chenier-Allard en donnant un énorme retour. Le but de Kabaracek en 2e période était superbe, très bel échange à trois joueurs...worth the price of admission...the rest of the game...not so much!!!
Le match d'aujourd'hui contre les Foreurs nous a donné droit à un fiasco défensif des deux cotés associer avec une performance absolument affreuse des deux gardiens. Nous avons pris les devant 2-0, dans une première période qui ressemblait à celle de vendredi soir pour ensuite voir les Foreurs chassé un Steeves totalement perdu avec 5 buts consécutifs. Les Piques sont revenu avec deux buts en début de 3e période mais ceci ne fut pas assez pour créer l'égalité.
Le but refusé n'était pas bon "people"...really obvious too see!!! J'entendait Chenier dire à la radio que la reprise video n'était pas conclusive pour accorder le but aux Piques....mes yeux l'était et je suis derrière le filet en 3e période...NO GOAL! Fait à noter que les Foreurs on été 2 en 3 sur l'avantage numérique pendant que nous avons compté un filet en 4 tentatives...there's you're game right there folks!!!
Si fallait que Steeves perdre le cap comme ce soir en série, je donnerai pas cher de notre peau! Les Foreurs ont exposé plusieurs de nos lacunes défensives aujourd'hui, ils nous on dominé au niveau des mises-aux-jeux, normalement une catégorie que l'on gagne...certes leurs gardiens, toutes en étant très ordinaire on pu bénéficier de dame chance...mais le résultat demeure le même...nous payons donc le prix pour avoir complétement perdu le niveau en 2e période!
C'est drole que Poirier a cumulé 4 pts en 2 matchs, mais que nous l'avons pratiquement pas remarquer sur la patinoire...personnellement après l'avoir vu prendre une mauvaise punition pour "slashing" en fin de 2e période qui a vu les Foreurs prendre les devant 5-2 je ne peux que dire ceci...
Posez-vous pas de question pourquoi team Canada Jr ne l'on pas inviter à leur camp, ce genre de geste et l'effort que j'ai vu de lui ce week-end me font plustot poser la question suivante..."A quoi sert le "A" sur son gilet"?!?!

We need a 20 on the blueline, we will have to wait to see how he looks. Steeves has looked terrible lately, and it seems to me he is not really interested in playing for the team. If we have to go out and get another goaltender, assuming there is a good one available, then we will have trouble trading for another defenceman or two, and a top six forward. I am starting to wonder if it might be best to trade Poirier and look to next season. I do not think the organization will do this, it would cause even fewer people to attend the games, and attendance already sucks. There is no point in Groulx standing pat however, since there is no way we are good enough at this time to expect to win much. As we now stand we might, and I do mean MIGHT be able to win two rounds in the playoffs. So we really need to trade up, or trade down. But, because it is the worst possible thing to do, I would not be surprised if Groulx does nothing.
RépondreSupprimerStooy, Groulx would not have traded now for a 20 year old D (when they have 9 other defensemen!) if he did not intend to go for it this year. The question remains, as Hull4Life points out, is Schumaker the 20 year old D that will solidify their lineup.
RépondreSupprimerThere are conflicting reports and opinions about this big American. Some say he's underated, some say the opposite. They did need help on the PP and he should provide that. From everything I hear about his defensive play and hockey sense, I might be inclined to use him as a PP specialist and limit his 5 on 5 minutes. Not exactly what you want from a 20 year old but the PP is so terrible that maybe they finally saw what all of us saw - the need for a PP QB who could shoot. That being said, I don't recall ever seeing him play. I know I must have seen him... I just don't remember him live in action.

Thanks MJ. Have you heard anything about Steeves not liking it in Gatineau? Might he want out? His play has been without any effort or intensity lately, no real commitment at all. As if he is simply going through the motions without true desire to play.
RépondreSupprimerI was very surprised that he came back this year. From all accounts, he was done with this team after last season. I was told that it was common knowledge that he did not want to go back and was hoping for a pro contract somewhere (out west was the rumour). When Steeves is on, he can be a top 5 goaltender in this league. His problem is that he despises the coach, is lazy, is out of shape and, as you point out, is not committed. He'd rather lose in Bathurst than win playing for Groulx. It's a difficult situation that should have been dealt with before the season started. Groulx sort off handcuffed himself by signing Brodeur and proclaiming him as his #1 next year before the kid even put on the pads for him.

Who knows .... maybe Groulx already told him he was looking for another goalie (would not be a smart move to tell him ahead of time) and that would explain his attituide. Although I don't think Groulx is that dumb.
RépondreSupprimerI personaly think that Groulx would be nuts not to at least look around or shop around if you prefer for another goalie. Steeves looked really awful on sunday, it's hard to have confiance in him, because you don't know he will be good or not interest in playing. When I say that he looked awful on sunday, I mean that I agree with Stooy...is body language said it all. I tired of this crap, how much more of this will we have to endure...? Brouillard showed the same body language come to think of it!

We need a tough guy on the point, if he's willing to drop the mits to respond to his actions of hitting and roughing a few people...then good, will benefit of his toughness because our blue line if way to soft if you ask me!

MJ...do you think an NHL team as any interest in Groulx? Also, do you think there's a possibility that we might trade Reway? I know it's hard to trade a euro this time of the year...but i'm not convinced him an Groulx repaired all the problems they had in October!
Stooy I agree with you that the worst thing we could do if to not do anything, like I said on JFP blogue, Groulx says just about anything we beeing interviewed, so when he said "We won't do anything major"...this really means "Will do something for sure"...He could do just a few tweek ups, I believe this would be just has worst has not doing anything. I don't believe the league is strong at all this season and Groulx can coach us in the second round for sure, now having said this, if he only tweeks up or does nothing, he will strat to struggle from there on in. I believe that if he gets 2 good forward (top-6) and one more good defenceman we can compete in the third round. Again, this is all pending that Steeves goaltends like MJ mentionned earlier "can be a top-5 goalie in this league" or that Steeves ends up elsewhere for another goalie who would perform for us!
For sure the Q does not have a powerhouse team this year. Nothing close to Halifax, or Saint John before them. The last time we won it we were not what I would call a truly great team, just a damn good one in a league without a great team that season. So for sure we have a chance if Groulx makes the right moves. But are the players we need going to be available for a price Groulx is willing to pay?
RépondreSupprimerIt is funny how things change and opinions can change. I used to like Groulx as a coach, but you did convince me that he is not competent as a GM. Now I hate this guy as a coach, but here we are talking about him being in a position to have a chance to win, or at least go deep, if he makes a few good moves in his job as GM!!

Hull4Life, Outside of Hull-Gatineau and the Quebec media, I've never heard of Groulx in other hockey circles. Yes he's a big deal here because he won in the past and his personality makes him a polarizing figure but, as far as I know, there are no NHL teams banging down his door. Maybe Patrick Roy was truly interested of bringing him out to Colorado but even there, I have my doubts. Roy is a rookie head coach and he brought in a rookie assistant coach in Tourigny. Did he really want two rookie assistant coaches from the Q? Maybe. Maybe not. None of us know although the local media seems content to continually point out that it was Groulx who refused the offer.
RépondreSupprimerAs for Reway, rumours abound but I have no clue. Only the kid knows. It seems young Reway really really enjoyed his time in Montreal and I can't blame him. He did pretty well. He was treated like gold. Have you ever been to an NHL training camp? I've been with a few players and, especially in cities like Montreal and Toronto, it's an absolutely incredible experience for a young hockey player, especially if he's drafted. And we all know that Reway loves himself. I know he told a few teammates that he actually believed he had a chance at making the team, as ridiculous as this really is to anybody else. So, to go from being treated like a God to going back to Groulx was tough on the kid. The facilities, the staff, the accommodations, even the food, in Montreal as compared to Junior Hockey in Gatineau.... quite the letdown. I was told that Reway got more in the way of medical treatment and assessments in Montreal than he got the whole year in Gatineau. It says a lot about the training and medical staff for the team.
Will he be traded? If he was 19 or 20, for sure he'd be gone. But, at 18 and with another year here as he's got nowhere else to go, I think he'll stick around. He's too good when he's on but the key is to get him to play for the coach. It's a Catch 22 - he should be treated like every other player but he can't be treated like Groulx treats most players. He's arrogant and is open in his disgust of the coach but he's so good when he's on. Even if he's a Euro, there is certainly a trade market for him. Could they get Ehlers from Halifax for him? Reway could really solidify the Moose as a top team. If not, maybe Meier? Will Reway even return here from the World Juniors?
