A third time is a Charm....Le Mooooose Champion!!!

Take notes Hull Olympiques hockey people!!!

Keep dropping the gloves kids, it's part of the game!!!

  1. In my opinion the Dogs had more talent, but as I said many times, they were not a great "team", just a great collection of individuals. Halifax are a great "team", they are a machine, they play as one, even though they do not, in my view, have quite as much talent as the Dogs did. Halifax are certainly as good up front as the Dogs were, but not as good on the blueline.

Of course, most of us prefer great teams to great collections of individuals, and I prefer Halifax to the Dogs teams big time! We are lucky to have had so many opportunities to see these great clubs, having met them both in the playoffs, the Dogs twice.

Have a great summer, see you in September. A target year is coming up, Groulx has a lot to make up for after this past disaster. Yes, I know we upset Rimouski, but this is small consolation to the disgrace that this past season was. We look good up front and in goal, we need help on the blueline. Groulx has got to figure out a way to finish high up and make the finals. I think he is capable of doing it. But as you say, he is also capable of jilting us, we will have to wait and see what happens.

  2. I'm still not convinced that Groulx will come back this year. With the number of coaches loosing their jobs in the NHL, I really think he will receive a call. He's 45 years old, he can't keep on saying "no" for ages!!! If someone in the NHL calls him, he will accept!!!

As for having 2 good goalies this season, I will say the same thing I said I the end of last season, I'll be very surprise if we still have the same 2 guys in nets this season!!!

PS: Summer stinks and so does Carl Hagelin!!!

  3. Groulx may or may not get the call. I think it is possible that his coaching style is not what they want in the NHL. Groulx does not impose a system, he simply uses emotions, bullying and psychology, and he demands hard work (most of the time, with the exception of his pets). I am not convinced he has the personality or attitude to be successful coaching professional men who are getting paid ten times what he would get paid. The days when the screamers like Mike Keenan could be successful are gone. Nowadays coaches in the NHL must have the respect of their players. This is not Groulx's strong suit. Often his players hate his guts.

I am not certain about all of this, maybe Groulx could be a good NHL coach, and maybe his phone will ring. But I will believe it when I see it.

Finally, I agree, I hate summer. It is too hot, and there are no Olympiques games.

  5. I believe Groulx can be a great x's and o's guy, but we haven't seen anything close to that in the last few years because he's harpooing himself by being the GM at the same time!!!

I'll say this much, if he's staying this season he will have a lot of opportunities to have a great team, if he still has a chance to suceed has GM and coach he will have to do so this season, because next year he's gone....and by success, has an Olymiques fan who's ready to see a team in his third year of rebuilt...I meen a birth in the final at the very least!!! Groulx did say after his lost to the Dogs in 2011 that he wanted to have a team like that 3 years from then....well here we are...what do you have for us Big Ben?!?!?!

Will have a better clue has to what to expect after the draft...but i'm not convinced will see Groulx the coach more then Groulx the GM...again!!!

  6. Giroux, Talbot, Mcginn all loved Groulx. Wathier for Dallas also can thank Groulx for his career and so on.

Trust me Stooy. The NHL has Groulx on their radar.

  7. I agree that we need to make the finals this season. We have enough up front, and in net. But what about our defense? Groulx will have to make a deal or two. He has shown in the past that when he has a good team he can make it better and either win or at least make the finals. And while we clearly need some help on defense, it is not as if we are hopeless at that position. Our kids handled themselves very well in the playoffs. I do think that this team that can win with a couple of GOOD moves by the GM.

  8. Guess why Giroux, Talbot and McGinn loved Groulx Leblanc?!?! Because he kept on playing over 30 minutes a game!! One thing all three players have in commun....they never won a Memorial Cup!!!

By the way, Groulx had success with them, when he was just the coach...and not Coach/Gm!!!

I'm sure I could name a few (by that I meen a tone) of players who disliked him!!! With a good Gm and Groulx behind the bench we could of had a lot of success...but with the formula we're using now, which is Groulx having both position...we can't compete!!! Our last 2 seasons have proven!!

Just like we had to win the President Cup when we got Devos, we have to have a birth in the final this season...Groulx will have the opportunity to buy everything he wants and anywhere he wants knowing that this will be his last year with us...if last year comes in the first place!!!

Can someone in the NHL please offer a job to this guy...!!!

  9. Why did they play 30 minutes though?
Because they played their ass off for him and the team.
Giroux himself asked Groulx to push him more.

  10. The Giroux's, Talbot's and McGinn's are superstars among a lot of other players that Groulx has coached over his 10 year spam with us. The players Groulx coaches don't all become Claude Giroux type players...

I'm tired of a lot of things in this organisation and Groulx running the entire show with Sear his "protege" his first and second on my list!!!

Although Groulx can be great with superstars he has not proven to be "loved" by MOST of his players and you can also flip this around by saying that he doesn't "stand" his players long enough....that's why we end up having 150 trades a year and half a team when the playoff start and different age cycles within our teams offence and defence!!!

  11. I tend to agree with Hull4life, Groulx makes too many moves. I think most of his players hate his guts for sure, but this does not matter. His job is not to make friends (Bourret the excpetion for some odd reason we do not know about), his job is to win, and quite often he does his job. Groulx should not be the GM, this is certain in my mind. We have what should be a big year coming up, Groulx has got to do it this season. We need to finish in the top four in the regular season, then make the finals. Anything less would be a failed cycle and it will be back to the drawing board.

  12. I think we can forget about the top four for sure with Baie-Comeau, Rimouski, Blainville, Quebec and Rouyn clearly in front of us!!!
